Synthesis of electron-poor hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronenes

Abstract
The oxidative cyclodehydrogenation of electron-poor arenes was achieved using DDQ-CF3SO3H resulting in hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronenes with electron withdrawing Br, F and CF3 groups. This method will lead to their expansion into a new class of electron transport materials. © 2012 Royal Society of Chemistry.
